About Me

I’m a reporter who’s particularly interested in telling stories about education, health or the Deep South. Right now, I’m a statewide education reporter for Mississippi Today.

I previously covered national health for the Associated Press, focusing on rural health access, insurance, public health funding and how people interact with the U.S. healthcare system. I cut my teeth on health reporting at Mississippi Today when I returned home in 2023 for the first time since college. There, I wrote about state health policy issues, including the local effort to expand Medicaid.

I’ve also worked across the Carolinas, first covering race and social justice for the Charlotte Observer and then covering the Charleston County School District for the Post and Courier. I had a stop in Newark, New Jersey reporting on the state’s largest public school district for Chalkbeat.

I’m originally from Mississippi and graduated with honors from the University of Mississippi, where I studied print journalism. I served in a number of roles at my college daily during undergrad, including arts & culture editor and managing editor.
